Yes. UAE-based NRIs can invest in Indian mutual funds using an NRE or NRO bank account, subject to FEMA/RBI rules, completion of NRI KYC, and acceptance by the individual Asset Management Company. Unlike NRIs based in the USA and Canada — whom several AMCs restrict due to FATCA compliance overheads — UAE-based NRIs are accepted by most fund houses.
How the Process Works
You invest through an NRE account (funded from abroad, fully repatriable) or an NRO account (for India-sourced income, with repatriation limits). A one-time NRI KYC is required — typically PAN, passport, valid UAE visa/residence proof, and overseas address — along with a FATCA/CRS self-declaration.
