SIP(SystematicInvestmentPlan)
Definition
A method of investing a fixed amount at regular intervals (monthly, quarterly, or weekly) in mutual funds. SIP facilitates rupee cost averaging — buying more units when markets are low and fewer when markets are high — and encourages disciplined, long-term wealth building. SIP does not assure a profit or protect against loss.
Example
A monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 in an equity fund for 15 years at 12% expected returns could potentially grow to approximately Rs 50 lakh.
