SIF(SpecializedInvestmentFund)
Definition
A new SEBI-introduced category that sits between traditional mutual funds and PMS. SIFs allow higher concentration in individual stocks and sectors compared to regular mutual funds, and may employ long-short or derivative strategies. They require higher minimum investments (Rs 10 lakh) and a suitability assessment.
Example
A SIF might hold a concentrated portfolio of just 10-15 stocks, unlike a regular mutual fund which typically holds 30-60 stocks, aiming for higher alpha through deeper conviction.
