Foreign entities such as pension funds, mutual funds, hedge funds, and sovereign wealth funds that invest in Indian securities markets. FII activity significantly influences market direction and is closely tracked by market participants. Also referred to as FPI (Foreign Portfolio Investors) under current SEBI terminology.
